FOURNIER, Catherine Marie  (nee Berriault)

Passed away peacefully midday on May 17, 2024 at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH), in her 71st year. She was surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her children Amanda and Christine (Jonathan Killing), grandchildren Emma, Owen, Sophie and Kayla, her brother Bob (Robert and Lee Berriault), nieces, nephews and many friends who were like family and many family members who became great friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ken (Kenneth Walter Fournier), her brothers Jerry and Brian Berriault, their mother Marie Moreau (Berriault nee Desjardins)

Cathy was well known for her sewing, dress making, canning, cooking and for giving so much love that many of her daughters’ friends became her adopted daughters and sons.  The house on Princess street became a haven for so many, and no one ever left hungry, nor without leftovers, and some kind of delicious treat usually homemade. Cathy was the one you called whenever there was a question with regards to cooking, baking, canning, sewing. She was a filing cabinet for most! Later in her life, she became a very talented and artistic beader and celebrated her Metis heritage through her artistry and teaching those around her how to continue those traditions. She always ensured that the knowledge was passed on in a patient and kind way so that it was retained and then further passed on to the next generation. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

See you again mother, my grandmother
