HILLE, Gunter

2 June 1925 – 21 August 2024

Gunter Hille of Midland, Ontario passed away on 21 August 2024. Born 2 June 1925 in Goslar, Germany, he would later immigrate to Midland in 1953 where he built the home in which he lived for the rest of his 99 years of life. Gunter’s photography avocation led to his becoming a founding member of the Midland District Camera Club in 1963. He would go on pursuing photography throughout his life, winning many awards for his beautiful photos.  He also went on to be a founder of the Midland Figure Skating Club. He served as the skate club’s president where he and his wife, Katharina, organized numerous ice shows and competitions as well as bringing several Canadian Champions to Midland in order to promote interest in the figure skating club.

Gunter’s love of flowers was most visible every summer with the beautiful flower garden in front of his home. He delighted in sharing his beautiful flower display with all who drove by his house.

Gunter Hille is survived by his daughter Monica (Hille) Nicoll and son-in-law William Nicoll of Glen, New Hampshire and by his grandchildren, Thomas Evans of Orlando, Florida and Katarina Evans of Delray Beach, Florida.
