Local group of farmers grow crops and donate

By Luke Langman, Feb. 12, 2025

“You reap what you sow” is not only practical wisdom for life, it also applies the corn crop that was grown this year for the Canadian Food Grains Bank.  A decent planting season stretched into a good growing summer and ended with an epic open warm fall with an amazing harvest.  I will be telling my grandkids about the “Harvest of ‘24”.  Our local group of farmers grow crops and donate the money to the Canadian Food Grains Bank of Canada which helps to alleviate poverty around the world.  The group this year included Langman’s who planted the corn, Roger Spence who applied the herbicide and a busy harvest day with combines provided by David Spring, Ray KleinGebbnick, Matt and Jeremy Hummelink, John Parnell and Matt Ververs.  Grain buggies were brought by Don Greidanus, Trevor and Bryson KleinGebbnick, Matt and Jeremy Hummelink, David Spring and Justin Jarick and Art Turner with Langman’s.  The harvest was trucked away by Dave Graham Trucking, Langman Transport and Colin Giffen’s Trucking to Larry Giffen’s elevator.  Special thanks to Arbor Lane Farms for a corn donation to Floradale Feed, Morely Minty as treasurer and Roger Spence as Production Manager.

Team Murphy in Coldwater Honours Paul Craddock

By Tom McGinnis, Feb, 10, 2025 – Team Murphy participated in the Coldwater old timers tournament. The number 13 sweater hanging on the bench is in memory of the teams owner and coach man who started the team 20 years ago Paul Craddock also known as Running Shoe. He passed away suddenly on January 13, 2025.

Paul enhanced the career of his friends who loved the game as much as he did. A tremendous loss to the Elmvale and Phelpston communities.
