Local Farm Community Donates $1,000 to Support Student Breakfast program in Elmvale
By Matt Ververs, March 25, 2025
Earlier this year, the local farm community generously donated $1,000 to the Mindful Morning Program at Huronia Centennial Elementary School located in Elmvale. The donation, presented by Matt Ververs of Pioneer Seeds Canada to Tracy Toner, the program lead. These funds will help provide nutritious food options for students, including breakfast, fresh fruit, and baked goods. This ensures no child goes hungry during the school day, fostering a supportive and healthy learning environment.
The program continues to make a positive impact on students’ well-being, thanks to the ongoing support from community partners like Pioneer Seeds Canada.
Centre Flos W.I. Annual Meeting
By Pat Leonard, April 5, 2025
A dedicated group of ladies enjoyed a potluck luncheon on April 1st, at the Elmvale Presbyterian Church. Following our regular meeting, the Annual General Meeting and Election of Officers for 2025-2026 took place. Reports from the R.O.S.E. Committee (Reaching Ontario & Sharing Education –aiming to increase awareness and expand the skill sets of WI Members and others in their communities to become more knowledgeable on social, health, domestic and environmental matters) reviewed a list of our past years’ speakers: History and tour of the Oro Black church, Simcoe Waste Mang’t, history and effects of Hurricane Hazel, Mike Osborne’s ( Huronia West O.P.P.) presentation on scams & how to prevent becoming a victim, and Stephanie Saunders from Waypoint about taking care of our mental health. Next month, we will have a presentation about Guide Dogs & how they enhance the lives of their owners. If you’re interested in attending, please reach out to any of the ladies pictured above.
Our Branch hosts 3 monthly coffee parties at Heritage Park ( Jun-Aug inclusive) and the proceeds from our 2024 events were directed to the Reynolds Family for costs incurred during their daughter’s cancer treatments. Thank-you to all who helped support us. During 2024-2025 the Branch purchased a hanging basket for the town beautification project, sponsored Jr class prize money at the Elmvale Fair, donated to the GBGH MRI fund, and collected food & cash for the Elmvale Food Bank.
We welcome 2 new members to our Branch and are looking forward to our speakers & activities for 2025-2026.

Elmvale Co-operative Nursery School Thanks Lions
March 23, 2025, By Lion Murray Truax
The Elmvale Lions welcomed a very important guest to their recent meeting. Myla Alwaleedy presented a beautiful thank-you card to the Elmvale Lions Club members for their recent donation to ECNS. Proud mother Megan Tinney (ECNS secretary) and proud “poppa” Lion Peter Tinney help with that task. Lion President Vern Beacock was proud to accept the card on behalf of the Lions members.

EDHS students appreciate the ongoing support from The Elmvale and District Lions! Since 2016, our local Lions have given unwavering support for this program. This April, our students will be travelling to O’Chiese First Nation in the Alberta Foothills. EDHS students will be hosting our guests at the end of May. This year is special to us as we mark the participation of over 100 Elmvale youth since 2016. Thank you Lions from teacher Greg Davidson.
