Ron Frankcom Memorial Curling Bonspiel

By Russ and Dawna Madore , Dec. 18,

The Waterside Retirement Lodge Senior Curling League finished their first schedule playoffs on Monday Dec. 23rd.

Team Madore and Team Don were in the finals competing for the Ron Frankcom Memorial Trophy. The championship game came down the last shot in the 8th end.

In the 8th, Team Don held a two-point lead but Team Madore had the hammer. Skip Dave Don drew to the four-foot against two Team Madore rocks to sit one but skip Russ Madore played a hit on the shot rock to score three to win the trophy.

In the Consolation final, Team Johnstone led by one point with the hammer against Team Scott. Skip Bill Scott put the pressure on skip Allan Johnstone laying three with one shot to come. Johnstone was able to come into the house with perfect weight to hit the shot rock right on the nose to lay one and win the game.
