Submitted by Jamie Robillard

The Penetang Kings solidified their position in fourth place in the Carruthers Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League with a pair of wins over between November 29th and December 7th.

On Friday November 29th the Kings mauled the Muskoka Bears by a 5-1 margin as Tanner Thayer scored a hattrick and added one assist to pace the Kings offence. Aidan Gravelle and Wyndam Brownlee added single markers for the Kings while Landon Simec turned aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced in the Penetang goal.  Penetang fired 42 shots on the Muskoka net to entertain the home crowd.  Thayer was named the Kings player of the game.

The Kings’ followed up that win with 5-2 victory over the Innisfil Spartans on Friday December 6th with single goals from Carter Wilson, Camron Hutchinson, Owen Fuller, Noah Saye and Cole Rumbolt.  Saye playing in his first game in a Kings uniform after signing with the team earlier in the week looked like he fit in well showing off some good speed and offensive savvy.  Simec once again was strong between the pipes for the Kings making 28 saves on the night and was named the Penetang player of the game.  Penetang managed 32 shots on the Spartans goal.

On Saturday December 7th the Kings travelled to Alliston to face the undefeated Hornets in an afternoon tilt and came out on the short end of the score 5-2.  Thayer and Brownlee netted one goal each for Penetang in the loss.  Alliston outshot Penetang by a 43 to 14 margin, keeping the Kings netminder Simec very busy throughout the contest.  Once again Thayer collected player if game honours for the Kings.

The Kings’ next home game is Friday December 20th when they meet the Midland Flyers at 8:00 pm at the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre then take their annual Christmas break before returning with a Friday January 3rd home contest when they face the Muskoka Bears.

Notes: The Kings game between Penetang and Orillia originally scheduled for November 30th was postponed due to inclement weather and will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Kings Program and Yearbook is printed and waiting for distribution once Canada Post returns to full operations.  In the meantime, Programs can be picked up at Kings home games.
