Kings Split Four Games – Submitted by Jamie Robillard

The Penetang Kings split their most recent four games wining by identical 3-0 scores in both Huntsville and Innisfil and dropping two games to Stayner.

Playing at home before a large crowd on Friday September 20th the Stayner Siskins showed why they are one of the top clubs in the Carruthers Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League getting past the Kings by a 5-1 count while outshooting Penetang 38 to 18.  Ty Hutton scored the lone Penetang goal early in the second period to narrow the score to 2-1 for the Siskins before Stayner scored three more goals to ice the contest.  Kevin Pearson once again played a strong game in the Kings net turning aside 33 shots including making several difficult saves.  For his efforts Pearson was named the Kings player of the game.

On Friday September 27th the Kings travelled to Huntsville to face the Otters and came away with a 3-0 win behind the shut-out goaltending of Landon Simec who made 37 saves.  The Kings offence was led by two goals from Camron Hutchinson and Tanner Thayer with one marker.  Max Geere had two assists for Penetang.  Simec’s strong netminding earned him the Kings player of the game.

Penetang followed up the win in Huntsville with a similar 3-0 result in Innisfil on Sunday September 29th as Pearson recorded the shut out turning aside 28 Spartans shots.  Aidan Gravel, Hutchinson and Kamden Elson scored one goal each for the Kings in the win.  Player of the Game for the Kings was Pearson.

On Thursday October 3rd the Kings were in Stayner to face the Siskins for the second time this season and dropped a 6-3 decision to Stayner.  The Kings trailed 2-0 after the first period but scored two goals to tie the game before giving up to late goals to Stayner and trailed 4-2 at the end of the second period.  Geere and Wyndam Brownlee netted the Kings second period markers and Tanner Thayer scored in the third period to round out the scoring. Simec was again named player of the game for Penetang making 26 saves against the high-powered Siskins attack.

Penetang now stands tied for fourth place after six games in the eight-team division.  Penetang will play their next three games on the road starting October 11th in Midland against the Flyers followed by a game on October 12th against the Orillia Terriers and finally they will face the Hornets in Allison on October 18th.

The Kings next home game is scheduled for Friday October 25th at 8:00 pm at the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre when they face-off against the Innisfil Spartans followed by a game on Saturday October 26th at home against Alliston.
