LOFTUS, Marjorie – October 30, 2007
We often think of bygone days
When we were all together.
The family chain is broken now,
But memories will live forever.
Sadly missed along life’s way
Quietly remembered every day.
No longer in our life to share
But in our hearts, she’s always there.
She sleeps in God’s beautiful garden,
In sunshine of perfect peace;
We miss her, oh how much,
But realize God knew best.
He let us have her many years,
Then gently bade her rest.
Lovingly remembered by the family.

They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason, Will change the way I feel,
For no-one knows the heartache, That lies behind our smiles,
No-one knows how many times, We have broken down and cried,
We want to tell you something, So there won't be any doubt,
You're so wonderful to think of, But so hard to be without.

We often speak your name,
But all we have are memories,

And put flowers there with care,
But no one knows the heartache,
As we turn and leave you there.
Always remembered by Muriel,
your sons, daughters and all their families

Do you fly an airplane???
My husband, Bill Orpin, was an avid and dedicated pilot. He flew a bright orange bush plane. Cessna 185, CF-SKC. In the summer time we lived at the Woodland Beach family cottage during the summer and Bill flew back and forth to his office in Thornhill, right by Buttonville Airport. We used the landing strip located in a farmer's field on the 11th of Flos - now Flos Road 10 West in Springwater Township. owned, at that time, by Willy Mueller who had been a Luftwaffe pilot.
Bill would let me know he was home by "buzzing" the cottage, pitch his prop and ‘wag’ his wings to signal it was time to pick him up at the airfield.  Sometimes it would be very late, almost dark - and I'd have to park the car strategically to throw light on the strip.  On early foggy mornings, he'd disappear into the ground fog as he taxied up the slight hill and then he'd suddenly appear, roaring his way up and away, the cows in the barn across the road lowing in protest at the sudden sound. By the way, we had an annual fly-in at that farmer’s field. Various pilots in the group had been pilots in WW2, some for the RAF, some with Luftwaffe.  The object of the war was never discussed; all those guys cared about was flying and comparing the merits of Spitfires and Fokkers. My husband had Alzheimer's and forgot so many things but never SKC and flying. During this last year of his life, when certain medical procedures were agony for him, I was able to distract him by holding him very tight and taking him far away from the present by giving him word pictures of his flying days, his walk-arounds, preparing for his flight, take-off and what he saw as he flew over that awesome landscape. For this very reason I would like to find a pilot who would be able and willing to do a fly-by and a farewell salute when we have his ashes interred in the Allenwood Cemetery on July 26, 10 am, this summer. I can be reached at 1.250.532.1960. or emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. you (Michael Jacobs/Springwater News) for taking the time to speak to me and the valuable information you gave me. Lyse Q-O

ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY YOU WENT AWAY
Today marks the anniversary
Of the day we lost you,
And for a time it felt as though
Our lives had ended too.
But loss has taught us many things
And now we face each day,
With hope and happy memories
To help us on our way.
And though we're full of sadness
That you're no longer here,
Your influence still guides us
And we still feel you near.
What we shared will never die
It lives within our hearts,
Bringing strength and comfort
While we are apart.

“Tenderly we treasure the past with memories that will always last.”
Certainly the family of Muriel Jacobs have memories of her that will last forever … but now more than ever we also have memories of appreciation for the many blessings and kindnesses that were bestowed on Mom over the years and on the family at the time of her passing. We extend our most sincere appreciation to the neighbours and friends for the food, floral tributes, charitable donations, cards, visits and calls of condolence; to the caregivers at Hillcrest Nursing Home for their considerate and mindful attention to Mom’s comfort; to the staff at Lynn-Stone Funeral Home for their thoughtful outreach in our time of sorrow; to Rev. Lois Lyons for such kind and encouraging words at Mom’s funeral service; to the Women’s Institute for the memorial service and dinner; to the United Church Women for the delicious luncheon following the service; and to all who reached out to us in love and compassion. Mom lived her life fully engaged with her family, the church and the community. Her life’s lessons will live on in our hearts along with the memory of such a caring community who work so considerately to support its members.
The Jacobs’ Family.

In Memory of Gladys Ritchie, June 10, 1977
Mom, did the sun shine brighter,
or was the shy a deeper shade of blue,
or was it just a different world
when we shared our lives with you?
Forty years is a long time,
this we know is true,
but that's how long our broken hearts
have loved and yearned for you.
Forever missed by
Herb, Bob, Mary, Sandy,
Bonnie, Bev, Jan & Cathy

Phillips, Dollie & James who passed away 10 years ago on April 13th and 25th, 2007
Our lives go on without you
but nothing is the same.
We have to hide our heartache
when someone speaks your name.
Sad are the hearts that love you
silent are the tears that fall.
Living without you is the hardest part of all.
You did so many things for us
your heart was so kind and true.
And when we needed someone
we could always count on you.
The special years will not return
when we were all together.
But with the love in our hearts
you will walk with us forever.
Loved always Anne (Don), Betty (Perley), Bob (Carol), Mary (Robert), Cathy, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

HAIN, Lesley Darlene, of 10 Celestine Court, Tiny, in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Georgian Bay General Hospital. Lesley had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in March 2015. While an emergency, lifesaving operation was successful, the cancer had already begun to spread. The Hains decided to move to a more tranquil community and keep their secret to themselves, so Lesley could spend her final days peacefully surrounded by nature. She, husband Bruce, son Matthew and pooch King Boo loved their new neighbourhood near the waters of Georgian Bay and Lafontaine Beach Park. They purchased a beautiful home built in a classic Greek-style and entertained friends. They were warmly welcomed by their new neighbours. Two trips - the first to Canmore, Alberta in May 2016 and Gros Morne National Park in Nfld. in September were highlights and Lesley was able to enjoy herself immensely. Unfortunately, the New Year brought a slow, but steady deterioration to Lesley, resulting in several ambulance trips to the hospital and ultimately the final one on March 24. Lesley will be dearly missed by Bruce, Matthew and her mother, Carol Budge of Collingwood, as well as members of the extended Hain and Budge families. At Lesley's request, no funeral service is being held. A small, private gathering honouring her memory will take place later this spring. Thank you to all the medical staff who worked so hard to make Lesley comfortable. A special thank you to Pastor Bill Preston of the Midland Community Church who came to the hospital in the middle of the night to administer to Lesley and offer solace to Bruce and Carol.

GIFFEN, Donald - In loving memory of a great father, father-in-law, and grandfather who passed away March 5, 2007.

In loving memory of Margaret Graham - May 24, 1923 - February 26,2016
The Watcher
She always leaned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were all so full of us,
She never could forget,
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting til we come home to her
Anxious if we are late
Watching from Heaven's window
Leaning from Heaven's gate.
Loved and Missed by all of your Family

Dr. Gerry Honeywood - February 28, 1943- February 26, 2016
How do we remember this man who loved life?
We remember the twinkle in his eyes, his smile that lit up his face, and his laugh; that caused his chin to drop and eyebrows to rise.
A man that wore his big black rubber boots with pride and who made a difference in many barns throughout Simcoe County.
We hold close the many special moments that we shared that have now become footprints on our hearts.
Proud to be known as your wife and son, Ann and Tyler

Born on the family farm in Collingwood Township on May 7, 1924, the only child of the elate Walter and Rose Elizabeth (nee Andrew) Hoggard, Maurice was the beloved husband for 66 years of the late Ellouise Doreen (nee Johnston) Hoggard of Meaford. Maurice was the loving Dad of Marilynn and Royce and his wife Margaret and the proud grandfather of Andrew and his wife Shilo and great grandfather of Zach, Josh and Abbie. He will be fondly remembered by his first cousins:  Alice Hoggard of Thornbury, Carol Nicholson and Shirley Haines of Lindsay, Norm (Mildred) Tripp of Coldwater, Betty Doan of Elmvale and Elborne (June) Andrew of Collingwood as well as his first cousins by marriage:  Audrey Hoggard of Thornbury and Eileen Tripp of Newmarket. He was close to his brothers-in-law Wally Johnston (Fern) and the late Len Johnston.  He had a special place in his heart for his nieces Lori (Sam), Melanie (Paul), Marie (Ron), and his nephew Ed (Carolyn) and their families.
From an early age Maurice was more interested in farm machines rather than farming itself and consequently pursued a career in auto mechanics. He worked at several garages in the local area and, on his marriage to Ellouise in 1950, he relocated to work in Port Perry and then Oshawa.  On his retirement in 1984, he and Ellouise became “Snowbirds” and spent over 25 years square dancing, travelling and thoroughly enjoying life. A great story teller, Maurice could entertain for hours with his recollection of his fishing trips, camping adventures from those in a small green tent through to those in the Air Stream trailers, square dancing, playing viola in the Oshawa Symphony Orchestra and trombone in the Thornbury Band and a multitude of family tales. In May 2015 Maurice and Ellouise returned to their hometown and moved into the Meaford Long Term Care Centre. Family received friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford on Saturday January 14th from 10 until the hour of service at 11 a.m. officiated by Reverend Rosemary Von Keitz. Family shared in a time of further sharing of remembrances of Maurice in the fellowship hall of Christ Church Anglican following the service. Thank You Springwater Fire Department & Our Community
The date of December 22nd will be forever etched in our minds, as it was the night nearly 70 plus years of family history was destroyed in a matter of hours. One of the structures destroyed by the fire that night was built in the early 1940’s, and has passed through generations of the Giffen family. Once a thriving Allis Chalmers dealership, it now housed Giffen Farms, along with Murray Brothers Small Engine and Timmerman Timberworks. Our thoughts are with those businesses as they attempt pick up the pieces and move on to bigger and better things.  As we reflect on this difficult holiday season, the thing that lifted our family from such a great loss and to a place of comfort was the compassion, bravery and professionalism shown by all the members of the responding volunteer Fire Departments, that early morning. It was overwhelming to see all the firefighters arrive onsite, comprised of our neighbours, friends and local farmers, who cast aside their own holiday priorities to fight this blaze for 12 hours. We will be forever thankful to the many firefighters that helped save our family home and surrounding buildings that night. Without the valiant efforts of those brave firefighters risking their lives, many homes would have been lost. The Springwater Fire Department, with assistance from Clearview, Tiny, and other areas, are to be commended for their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe. Their selfless dedication, along with their time commitment to prepare and train to combat disasters like this, should be recognized by everyone in our community. They deserve to be held in the highest regard. Thank you. We will forever be grateful to you. To our neighbours who ran over at 3am to help us rescue a few sentimental items from the office before the blaze took everything, your help will always hold a place in our hearts. To all our friends and neighbours, your generosity and sentiments have filled our hearts, and our tummy’s. As one neighbour said, “country folk do it differently”, and is that ever true. The fridge has been full, which helped to feed all the neighbors and friends who helped with the immense clean up effort.  Greg & Keith, thank you for putting your own businesses on hold, and being an instrumental part in the clean up.
We have had a sad closing to that chapter of our lives, however the support which the community has shown our family has allowed us to start the next chapter on such a bright note. From our family to yours, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sincerely,  Larry and Cindy Giffen and Family

Gil Moreau, Aug 6th 2016
For a dear Husband, Father, Poppy and Uncle.
Our First Christmas without you

We thought of you with love today,
But that was nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
And when we're sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
"Cheer up and carry on."
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part.
God has you in our keeping,
We have you in our heart.

Love Diane, Shelley, Matt, Taylor, Danielle and Andrew, Jenny, Teagan and Lochlyn

Wonderful memories she left behind
Sadly, missed but never forgotten

LOFTUS, Marjorie – October 30, 2007
We often think of bygone days
When we were all together.
The family chain is broken now,
But memories will live forever.
Sadly missed along life’s way
Quietly remembered every day.
No longer in our life to share
But in our hearts, she’s always there.
She sleeps in God’s beautiful garden,
In sunshine of perfect peace;
We miss her, oh how much,
But realize God knew best.
He let us have her many years,
Then gently bade her rest.
Lovingly remembered by the family.

After the clouds, the sunshine,
after the winter, the spring.
After the shower, the rainbow…
for life is a changeable thing.
After the night, the morning,
bidding all darkness cease.
After life’s cares and sorrows,
the comfort and sweetness of peace.
In loving memory of our family who have passed.

BERRY, Sandra Lyn Harcus-February 12, 1975 - August 11, 2012

           I am with you still

I give you this one thought to keep,

I am with you still, do not weep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush,

of quiet birds in circled flight.

Do not think of me as gone,

I am with you still, in each new dawn.

Lovingly remember and forever missed.   Mom and Dad

After the clouds, the sunshine, after the winter, the spring

After the shower, the rainbow...for life is a changeable thing.

After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease.

After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness

of peace.

In loving memory of our family who have passed.

Above all, Jack was caring, principled and lived his faith in all he did. Mary, his children and grandchildren were at the centre of his life. In Jack’s memory, friends are asked to donate to St. John’s United Church, Elmvale or the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation, Midland.
